Re: Barn Find......Well shed find but near enough!!

The 1969 Beetle is the most complete one of the two and the one in need of the least work so this was the one to put back on the road.

It took me about 2 weeks of spending every evening out in the freezing weather going through the electrics, putting interior back in, putting bits back on, checking the brakes, bleeding the brakes, changing wheels, changing window winders, etc etc you get the picture. There was a long list. Surprisingly though two jumpers and tee shirt and a wooly hat keep you surprisingly warm even when you can see things visibly freezing around you.

As I said it took about two solid weeks to get it sorted, I had pottered about with bits a pieces before as the begining of the story explains.

After these two weeks the '69 went from this:

It passed its first MOT in 4 years on Sat13th Dec.

And the best bit about it [sign in to see URL] have to drive most places with the window down or quarter light open because it gets so damn hot in [sign in to see URL] many people can say that about an aircooled. This might be the norm for beetles but it certainly suprised me when i first hooked it all up!! emoticon

My bug was always a sauna too! If your channels are good and you've got good quality heat exchangers then you'll be warm all year round. Shame it takes a while to heat [sign in to see URL] old bugs nickname was 'the fridge'! emoticon

Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.
